Princess Kate has officially left hospital after spending a fortnight admitted under the care of medics after “planned” abdominal surgery. The future Queen and mum-of-three is now expected to return home to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to continue her recovery.
Kensington Palace had confirmed the 42-year-old had been admitted to The London Clinic in Marylebone on January 16, also cementing her 10 to 14 day recovery time in the facility. On Monday afternoon, the news had been confirmed that the princess had left.
The public are not due to see her now at any engagements until the spring, with a long recovery time expected. Despite the confirmation of abdominal surgery, the palace added that the nature of the procedure would be kept private.
Princess Kate leaft the clinic on Monday after it was confirmed King Charles remained under the same roof for three nights, sparking fears about his health and recovery. The King had visited his daughter-in-law before he too went and had a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate.

Princess Kate was admitted to hospital on Tuesday January 16 for planned abdominal surgery. Aides have not identified her condition but it is understood to be non-cancerous.
But sources have indicated that Kate may wish to open up on her condition in the future.
Kensington Palace said in a statement: “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery.
“The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
Princess Kate was first admitted to hospital on Tuesday January 16 for the successful abdominal surgery. She has spent 13 nights and 14 days at The London Clinic, having been discharged on Monday, January 29.
Kate received a number of visitors during her fourteen day stay, including from her devoted husband Prince William and King Charles and Queen Camilla on Friday. The pair popped in ahead of the King’s planned prostate surgery later that day.
Princess Kate is not expected to return to royal duties until at least after Easter.
Easter weekend, consisting of Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday falls over March 29 to April 1 – meaning the public may not get a glimpse of her until at least April.
The palace statement confirmed: “”Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
It is unclear whether his means that Kate will not join the rest of the Royal Family for their Easter Sunday service – a staple in the royal diary.
On Monday, Kensington Palace released their first official statement since they first revealed Kate had gone into hospital.They said: “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.
“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.
“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”
It follows their earlier statement that announced Kate had undergone abdominal surgery. They said: “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery.
“The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery.Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.
“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.
“Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.
“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
