The Princess of Wales is sometimes compared to the late Queen Elizabeth II; she is one of the most photographed women in the world, but remains inscrutable.
While she is shy and introverted at times, those who know her speak of her steeliness and quiet confidence.
In the recent book Courtiers, the journalist Valentine Low reveals that the Princess may have been directly involved in the response to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Oprah Winfrey interview.
She apparently drafted the line that “recollections may vary”, which was then added to the late Queen’s response.
In this episode of Royal Insight, Camilla Tominey explores how the Princess has become a quiet but strong influence within the Royal family.
While she started out in royal life as “William’s plus one”, she has gone on to forge her own solo career, including her long-term causes of early years care and addiction.
“Legacy projects aren’t just for Christmas, they are for life – you have got to play the long game,” Camilla says.
“Maybe that is one of her advantages in all of this, that she has always seen the importance of playing the long game. I suppose that is also a privilege of knowing that one day you are going to be queen.”
