Kate, 42, is expected to remain in hospital for another week, having been admitted to the London Clinic last Tuesday.

But sources said she is keeping busy by doing charity paperwork and research.

The Prince of Wales has taken over school run duties for the couple’s children Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis.

Kate and William want the youngsters to have minimal disruption during her stay in hospital and recovery at home, which is expected to last months.

She will convalesce at Adelaide Cottage, the family’s Windsor home, and is unlikely to resume official duties until after Easter.

A royal source said: “The kids are always at the centre of their universe. That will continue to be the case. They want to make sure they have as much normality as possible.”

Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, who live in nearby Bucklebury, Berks, will also be on hand to help.

Once home in Windsor, appointments in Kate’s diary will be cleared to allow her time to rest, a source said.
