Prince Harry gave a strange response when asked how he was doing, saying it was “top secret” but adding that “he’s grateful to be a dad”. In his first interview since he flew across the world to spend 30 minutes with his father King Charles, Harry gave fairly blunt answers to interviewer Will Reeve.

Speaking on Good Morning America from Canada, Harry explained how he found out the news about his father and how he was feeling since the meeting in London last week.

Presenter Will Reeve asked Harry: “How did you get the news that the King was ill?” To which he simply replied: “I spoke to him.”

He was then asked: “What did you do next?” Harry went on: “I jumped on a plane and went to go and see him as soon as I could.”

Discussing his visit, he added: “I love my family and the fact I was able to get on a plane and spend time with him, I’m grateful for that.”

Asked on his “outlook” on the King’s health, Harry blunty said: “That stays between me and him.” Presenter Reeve then asked about a possible reunion with his family following the news, to which Harry encouragingly said: “I’m sure. The strength of the family unit coming together – I see it all the time.”

He added that he has “other trips planned”, saying he will “stop in” and see his family during those. Then asked how he was feeling, he said: “I can’t tell you that it’s classified. Top secret. I’m very grateful to be a dad.”

From the interview, royal fans have hope that there could be a reconcilation on the cards for the Duke of Sussex and the rest of his family.

It’s not thought that Harry met with his brother Prince William during his visit last week, with tensions between the pair damaged after Harry made a number of claims in his book Spare.

But with their father diagnosed with cancer, it’s thought the brothers may have to put their differences aside to be there for the King who was diagnosed during treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Buckingham Palace said the King has began “regular treatments” and will postpone public duties during it.

The Monarch, 75, “remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” it added.
