Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be eyeing up a new deal with another Hollywood giant as their deal with Netflix nears its end, after they were snapped with the boss of Paramount in Jamaica.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made an appearance at the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love in the country’s capital Kingston, where they rubbed shoulders with the country’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

The initial surprise at their presence was explained by a source who claimed the couple had been invited by Paramount CEO Brian Robbins, as they are friendly with him and his wife Tracy James.

Paramount produced the Bob Marley biopic and Mr Robbins and Ms James live close to the Sussexes in Los Angeles, with a source telling MailOnline: “[Harry and Meghan] have long been fans of Bob Marley’s music and message” and “have a personal friendship with the Robbins family, who invited them”.

This has led to speculation that the Duke and Duchess may now seek a deal with Paramount, as their contract with Netflix expires next year and it is not yet known if it will be renewed.

Harry and Meghan made the decision to step down as working royals in 2020, and when they moved to California they signed a number of multi-million dollar entertainment deals in their bid to become financially independent.

One of their most high-profile contracts was with Netflix, with whom they produced the explosive documentary series Harry & Meghan which dropped on the platform in December 2022. They signed a five-year contract, meaning it is due to end at the start of 2025.

Despite being a huge commercial success, the couple face criticism for their portrayal of life in the Firm as they remain estranged from most of Harry’s extended family.

Their follow-up project Heart of Invictus was released last year and took viewers behind the scenes of the Duke’s Invictus Games in the Netherlands, although it failed to make the same impact as their previous series.

Harry and Meghan are rumoured to have a series of new projects in the pipeline with the streaming giant, including a prequel to Great Expectations focusing on the back story of Miss Havisham and an adaptation of the Carley Fortune novel Meet Me at the Lake.

However there have also been no confirmed projects from Meghan’s signing with talent agency WME last April, with speculation that these deals may go the same way as the pair’s partnership with Spotify.

Last summer Archewell Audio and Spotify announced they had parted ways after producing just one series of Meghan’s podcast Archetypes.

The decision was said to be “mutual”, however Luana Ribeira, author and PR specialist for Dauntless PR, told Daily Express US: “Harry and Meghan have such a huge global profile that it was no surprise, they attracted a huge podcast deal.

“What Harry and Meghan failed to provide was the juice consumers were looking for. No one expected hour after hour of tell-all confessions but you do have to offer your audience something. When we work with our PR clients, we make sure they understand that media coverage is a two-way street.

“You can’t just focus on what you want to tell people, you have to also consider what people want to hear and find a sweet spot that balances both those interests.”
