Meghan Markle has shown her ‘true colours’ this week after she marked her seventh wedding anniversary with Prince Harry on Instagram. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared a moodboard of pictures showing her and Harry’s relationship throughout the years from 2016 until now, including photographs of their early dating days.
Other photographs showed more intimate family moments, including a picture of their children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, three, sharing a sweet forehead kiss. Meghan accompanied her Instagram post of the moodboard with a short but sweet caption that read: “Seven years of marriage. A lifetime of stories. Thanks to all of you (whether by our side, or from afar) who have loved and supported us throughout our love story – we appreciate you. Happy anniversary!”
A body language expert believes the post hints at an “air of ultimate victory over the sceptics and critics”, showing the duchess’ true colours and “theatrical side”.
Leading body language expert Judi James told The Mirror: “Referring to her seven years of marriage as a ‘lifetime of stories’, Meghan seems to reveal her theatrical side.
“The curated photos of those years that accompany her words do look a little like stills from a movie about a romantic love story.
“Her written message is very brief here, although the sentiments echo an Oscar acceptance speech, suggesting an air of ultimate victory over the sceptics and critics.”
Since the couple married in 2018, they have experienced a number of significant life changes.
As well as welcoming their two children into the world, Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, also made the very rare move of quitting royal life in 2020 and moving overseas to America. Since then, the couple have enjoyed a relatively quiet life in Montecito, however have also taken to the public stage on occasion to talk about their struggles of royal life.
In 2021, Harry and Meghan sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey where they spoke negatively of their life as working royals.
A year later, they featured in the controversial docuseries Harry and Meghan, where they told their “story” – a move that further fractured their relationships with Prince Harry’s royal relatives.
Since the release of Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023, the couple have refrained from talking any more about their experiences in the Royal Family, instead seeming to focus more on their life as a family of four in California.
