Trooping the Colour 2023: Parade time, route and how to watch King Charles’ birthday ceremony live


THIS year the Trooping the Colour will be celebrate the King’s official birthday.

The parade and various other events are taking place across the capital.

When is Trooping the Colour 2023?

The Trooping the Colour will mark King Charles’ official birthday.

It will take place on Saturday, 17 June, 2022, beginning at Horse Guards Parade at 10am.

The traditional ceremony is expected to finish by 12.25pm.

The royal family will then go back to Buckingham Palace where they will stand on the balcony.

There will then be a flypast by the Red Arrows.

What is the route for Trooping the Colour?

The route begins at Buckingham Palace.

From there, the parade will continue down the Mall to Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall, and back to the Palace.

It will be watched by His Majesty, and Royal Family members from the balcony of the Palace, and will be visible to the public from the Mall.

How can I watch Trooping the Colour?

Members of the public can watch Trooping the Colour in person in London.

You’ll be able to watch from The Mall (with a limited view) or the on the edge of St James’ Park, which overlooks Horse Guards.

However, if you’d rather watch from the comfort of your own home, you can on TV.

The ceremony will also be broadcast live on the BBC1 and can be streamed on the BBC iPlayer from 10.30am.
