The Royal Family has attended the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall in London.

King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent.

The royals paid tribute to fallen soldiers of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth at the annual event and the first of King Charles’s reign.

This year’s performance honoured the anniversary of two conflicts: the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic and the 70th anniversary of the Korean War.

It also paid special tribute to the Windrush generation, marking 75 years since the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush in the UK.

The Royal British Legion said: “This year’s festival pays tribute to National Servicemen and marking 70 years since the end of the Korean War. It also acknowledges the unique contribution of the Windrush Generation, 75 years after their arrival in the UK, and honours those who served in the Battle of the Atlantic 80 years ago.”

While the event’s main focus was to honour the service people who paid the ultimate price, there was also a special moment in tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Statues of the late Queen and her consort were unveiled at Royal Albert Hall with an emotional King Charles looking on. The King and Queen unveiled the statues before the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday night. Charles pulled the curtain to reveal his mother’s statue, while his wife was responsible for revealing Prince Philip’s statue.

The Royal Family will gather together again on 12 November for the ceremony at the Cenotaph.
