It’s almost time for the royal Christmas and New Year speeches from the monarchs across Europe, but when can you expect to watch each speech?

There are three speeches on Christmas Eve: Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, King Felipe of Spain and King Philippe of the Belgians.

King Felipe of Spain’s message airs at 9 pm Spanish time, while Philippe’s pre-recorded remarks are traditionally aired at 1 pm Belgian time. Grand Duke Henri’s also takes place in the afternoon.

Christmas Day also sees three speeches: King Charles, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

King Charles’s speech will air at 3 pm in the UK and be broadcast across the Commonwealth.

There are a few days before the final royal speeches of 2023. Queen Margrethe of Denmark, King Harald of Norway and Prince Albert of Monaco all share their message on New Year’s Eve. Albert’s is aired in the afternoon while Margrethe and Harald’s are in the evening.

Outside Europe, Emperor Naruhito of Japan will address his people on New Year’s Day.
