Royal fans have been left baffled after a video resurfaced showing how the late Queen Elizabeth II ate a banana.

The video was posted online by X account Historic Vids showing an etiquette expert demonstrating how the late monarch would tuck into the popular fruit.

Rather than peeling and eating the fruit like most people, Queen Elizabeth II would elaborately eat it with a knife and fork.

According to the expert, she would cut one end off and then make an incision down the middle of the banana before cutting the flesh of the banana into chunks.

The clip has left contemporary royal fans in shock and hysterics over the royal revelation.

Most people were divided over the technique with some questioning whether it was worth it to go to so much effort to cut up a banana.

Others put forward their alternative ways for how to cut up a banana and posted clips of people demonstrating complex banana-eating techniques.

The majority of people were incredulous that such a simple act had been given so much complexity.

One person wrote: “Deep down I know the Queen would just want to much up the whole thing with her hands, but she can’t.”

Another person wrote: “I ain’t going through that stress to eat a banana.”

Incredibly, one user said they were going to adopt the royal banana-eating routine into their life. They claimed: “Gonna eat a banana this way on public transportation so everyone knows I’m royalty.”

This isn’t the first time Queen Elizabeth’s diet has been brought into sharp focus. In the months since she passed away at the age of 96, there have been a lot of questions over what she ate to allow her to live for as long as she did.

According to former royal chef Darren McGrady the late Queen had a practical approach to food.

Speaking to Hello!, they said she “stuck to the same dishes week in week out” and any new recipes wouldn’t be executed until she had signed off on them.

He added: “We prepared the menus three days ahead so we could get the food in. The chefs would pick the menus and she would put a line through the ones she didn’t want.

“Sometimes she’d put a line through it all and put something different, like if she was having dinner with Prince Andrew, his favourite was crème brulee with Sandringham oranges.

“It’s like any mum with a son or grandson coming home. If Prince William was coming for tea it would be a chocolate biscuit cake. He loved those.”

What’s more, it wasn’t just about what the Queen had during the day, but what she drank at the start of it.

According to The Mirror, she would start each morning with a cup of Earl Grey tea without milk or sugar but would add a biscuit or two.

Her breakfast of choice included cereal, yoghurt, toast, and marmalade all of which were eaten in Buckingham Palace’s main dining room.
