Kate, Princess of Wales has drawn comparisons from royal watchers with Meghan Markle after pictures emerged of her at this week’s state dinner.

The future Queen Consort’s curried unfavorable comparisons, however, as she was unfortunately placed behind a candelabra – a traditional candle holder with multiple arms.

Commentators suggest her placement during the banquet for the South Korean president was eerily similar to that of the Duchess of Sussex during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

Placed in front of the ornate candelabra, the Princess of Wales was seemingly obscured from public view.

Meghan similarly found herself behind a huge candle during the National Anthem at her funeral.

Royal watchers on social media said the unfortunate placement of the Princess of Wales was nothing if not bad optics.

“Remember at the queen’s funeral when Meghan was behind a candle and the dementors lost their s***? Yet when it happens to Kate it’s fiiiinnnneee,” wrote one commenter.

“Remember everyone snickering when Meghan was seated behind that candle at the funeral?” wrote another.

And another wrote: “Meghan had one candle in her face. The trolls mocked Meghan for weeks. A year later Kate had a big chandelier with five candles blocking her. Now they are silent.”

Kate wasn’t visible during King Charles III and President Yoon Suk Yeol’s banquet speeches.

She was positioned on the president’s right side at the top table in Buckingham Palace’s ballroom.

Thus far, none in the British royal family have commented on the situation.
