Princess Anne returns to public duties as she opens A&E unit in Worcester | Royal | News

Princess Anne returned to public duties today as she arrived in Worcester to open a new £35million A&E unit.

The Princess Royal, who is currently making a phased return to royal engagements following an accident on the grounds of her estate last month, officially opened the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s new emergency department at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Anne was all smiles as she met with staff from the hospital’s emergency department and learned about how their work is linked to the wider network of urgent and emergency care services at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

She also unveiled a plaque marking the Emergency Department’s official opening.

She looked elegant in a white and blue floral dress, paired with a dark cropped blazer and navy blue gloves.

Later, King Charles’s sister, as patron of the Three Counties Agricultural Society, opened Kildare Hall, a new single-span building at The Showground, in Malvern, Worcestershire.

Today’s visit comes nearly four weeks after the princess was rushed to the hospital after being kicked by a horse while out walking.

Anne carried out her first public engagement since her accident last Friday when she presented awards at an equine competition at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.

It was part of her gradual return following her concussion and minor head injuries.

Anne was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol on June 23, staying for five nights after being injured while out walking on her Gatcombe estate in Gloucestershire.

Anne’s medical team said her head injuries were consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs but her concussion meant precise details of how the incident came about are not clear.

The Prince and Princess of Wales personally congratulated Anne on her return to public appearances, calling her a “super trooper” and adding “so great to see you back so soon! W & C x”.
