King Charles looked relaxed and in good form on Sunday as he drove Queen Camilla to a church service near Balmoral.
King Charles, 75, and Camilla, 77, were heading to Crathie Kirk – where the Royal Family worships while staying at their summer residence in Scotland.
Charles appeared in a good mood as he and Camilla made the short drive to the church, raising his hand to wave to the waiting crowds.
Camilla also appeared cheerful and waved to onlookers, while finishing off her outfit with a formal hat.
The monarch is currently on his summer break but has been updated daily on the unrest across Britain and recently spoke out to praise people’s ‘resilience’ in countering aggression.
Express.co.uk exclusively revealed that Queen Camilla had joined King Charles on the Balmoral estate to kick off the Royal Family’s Scottish holiday month.
According to our well-placed source, Camilla headed up to meet the monarch at Birkhall on Friday where the couple enjoyed their honeymoon in 2005.
The property has been described as the “perfect retreat” for the King as he continues his cancer treatment and somewhere their Majesties can relax and unwind during a “second honeymoon”.
“Camilla has been spending time with her family over the past few weeks and headed up to meet Charles just before the weekend,” said the source.
“Birkhall is like a second home to both of them, they absolutely adore it. Not only is it where they had their honeymoon but also where they both enjoy spending time together away from prying eyes.”
Situated in the heart of the Balmoral estate in Scotland, the royal holiday home was once occupied by the late Queen Mother while in Scotland.
Their Majesties are said to be residing at Birkhall even when the rest of the Royal Family roll up to the estate next week to take up residence in the 52-bedroom castle.
