Prince William is back to work full-time after a brief stint away from the public eye.

The Prince of Wales has appeared at two major events, making an impassioned plea on the Israel-Hamas war to “see end to the fighting as soon as possible” and unveiling a game-changing new housing initiative designed to help combat homelessness in the southwest of England.

This shows he has been hard at work behind-the-scenes despite stepping out of the public eye for a short period following Princess Kate’s admission to hospital for surgery.

His re-emergence has been noted across the pond in the US, with CNN’s royal newsletter pointing out: “One of the moves alone would normally have garnered headlines, but both within days of the other shows that while William may have been briefly out of the public eye, he’s been hard at work behind the scenes.”

He took some time off to be with his wife, Princess Kate, following her abdominal surgery and to help look after their three young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. His return was sooner than expected, with King Charles’s cancer diagnosis prompting him to resume his duties, it’s been reported.

And one of William’s biggest jobs does occur behind closed doors – raising the future king.

Royal author Robert Hardman spoke to People magazine about preparing George, 10, for his future as a working royal:

He said: “William is trying to normalize it. They’re not in denial and there’s a lot of thought being given to it, which was not always the case.

“With George, there’s a sense that the priority is that he and his siblings are not put off this, that it’s not scary, that it’s something that they understand and it’s going to be part of their life.”
