Prince Harry left his UK home four years ago when he decided to quit life as a senior royal, along with his American wife Meghan Markle, and move across the pond.
Since then, the Duke of Sussex, 40, has called Montecito home, with his daily routine believed to consist of doing the school run, riding his bike and taking the dogs to the nearby beach.
While the duke once said he would always love the UK and see it as home, the prince also reportedly has no intention to leave California, even amidst the ongoing visa rows.
This was evident in a video which showed the prince visiting a New York tattoo parlour East Side Ink for a fake tattoo as part of a promotional skit for The Invictus Games.
The two-minute clip showed Harry casually chatting with musician Jelly Roll, with fans quick to notice that as well as developing an American accent, the duke was also using American phrases. This includes the use of the phrase “screw it, let’s do it” and “dude.”
According to Hello!, Anthony Shuster, a communication coach and accent specialist, told the Telegraph: “You notice that there’s a huge difference between the way the King speaks and the way Harry now speaks. There’s very little articulation at all in his speech—it’s far more relaxed.”
On social media, royal fans have been quick to notice the accent change since relocating to America in 2020.
On X, one fan said: “I love him. The people’s prince. And he totally has an American accent now.”
Another wrote: “The California accent is very very easy to pick up because you hear it on American television all the time. I’m not surprised it’s breaking that British accent from him.”
A third said: “American slang, a bit of the accent. I love it!”
Despite being born and raised in Britain, the prince has shown a huge love for life in California, especially when it comes to the weather.
Just a month ago, a video of the prince surfing went viral, with many commenting on how he really was integrating himself into the Californian lifestyle.
Since moving to the area in 2020, the prince has lived in a £11 million mansion with his wife Meghan, 43, and their two children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
