King Charles has gone out of his way to spend more time with Prince William’s children, it’s been said. But, little is known about how close he is with Prince Harry’s children, Archie and Lilbet.

The children still retain their titles, and royal watchers have been wondering whether they have a future as working royals.

Daily Express reached out to royal expert Kara Kennedy to ask about the future of the prince and princess as potential working royals.

Kennedy, who writes for The Spectator, said it’s possible that the young royals may want to be involved when they are older, but suggests they will be so far behind, that “they wouldn’t know where to start.”

She explained: “They are sixth and seventh in line to the throne and you’ll remember that Harry and Meghan fought hard for their children’s titles to remain, even though to the public, it went against everything that the Sussexes had previously argued.

“I think the truth is that regardless of Lilibet and Archie’s title and actions when they get older, their parents’ decision has tarnished them forever.”

She doesn’t see it working out for them as working royals: “They will be brought up in California far away from the tradition and institution of the Royal Family – if they ever wanted to be involved on a day-to-day basis, they wouldn’t know where to start.”

Even so, there is hope for the cousins to build relationships, with Kennedy adding: “It’s entirely possible that the children could want to come back to the bones of the family.

“They will be close-ish in age to the Wales children in the children of Beatrice and Eugenie.”

She said: “It’s only natural for Archie and Lilibet to want to be in on the action and not feel left out, regardless of their parents’ wishes.”
