Harry ‘concerned’ over King’s health and has kept in ‘regular contact’ | Royal | News

Prince Harry is expected to meet with King Charles when he travels to the UK next week, as the Prince remains “concerned” for his father’s health as he battles cancer.

The pair both have engagements in London next Wednesday, May 8, with Harry flying over to attend a special service commemorating 10 years of the Invictus Games. Meanwhile the King will be attending a Buckingham Palace garden party.

According to a source the Duke of Sussex is “very keen” to see his father and has kept in “regular contact” with Charles since news of his cancer diagnosis broke.

The announcement about the King’s health was made on February 5, with Harry travelling over from California the next day to spend just 30 minutes with him after hearing the news.

An insider told the Daily Mail it will be a “happy coincidence” that the duo are both in London on Wednesday, adding: “It’s clear he [Harry] is keen to see his father as he continues his recovery and most people expect another reunion of some kind next week.”

Another source told the Mirror that the Duke has “kept in regular contact with his father” and has “made no secret of his desire to see him when he can”.

They added that Harry has been “especially concerned” about Charles and hopes he will be well enough for them to be reunited in London.

The Sun reported that the garden party and the Invictus service are both due to finish at around 6pm, meaning that there may be time for father and son to meet in person.

However any reunion is not likely to include Prince William, as he and Harry’s estrangement has led to a complete breakdown in their relationship.

William will be away from London on Thursday, and has royal duties scheduled on Friday in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, while Princess Kate continues to recover from her own cancer.

Meghan Markle is also not expected to join her husband in the capital as she has not been back to the UK since September 2022, for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth.

Harry and Meghan will travel to Nigeria together later in the month for a visit, having been invited by the country’s Chief of Defence staff.

It will be their first visit to West Africa as a couple, having travelled to southern Africa back in 2019 for a royal visit before quitting the Firm months later.

They will then fly straight back to Los Angeles without stopping over in Britain, with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet likely to stay at home in Montecito.
