A tender moment between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has gone viral after an old clip of the incident outside Windsor Castle was posted to TikTok.

In the video, Harry is seen placing a protective arm across his wife’s back during a sombre time, as they greet well-wishers on a walkabout after the death of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.

The Sussexes are often snapped hand in hand, in a departure from standard royal protocol which generally sees married couples avoid touching each other too obviously in public.

Harry and Meghan quit royal life in 2020 and moved to California, where they have spoken openly about their relationship and their time in the Firm.

Two years later on September 10 2022 the couple were somewhat awkwardly reunited with Prince William and Princess Kate to put on a united front in their grief for the late Queen.

One account said: “Prince Harry has his mom’s compassion and light” while another added: “Harry is so protective over Meghan. It’s so cute to watch.”

A third commented: “The kind of love and respect they have for one another is amazing and inspirational”, and a fourth said: “God bless this young couple.”

Harry and Meghan were snapped holding hands a few days later during the lying-in-state ceremony at Westminster Hall on September 14, and then again during the funeral on September 19.

One body language analyst believes that the Sussexes have toned down their public displays of affection from the early days of their relationship.

Darren Stanton said on behalf of Betfair Bingo: “Harry and Megan’s relationship has evolved. When looking at their body language, their public displays of affection have changed drastically over the years.

“When they started dating and became more established as an official couple, they were very affectionate in public, almost more affectionate than William and Kate.

“I feel that they have toned it down a bit in recent times. I have seen their engaged eye contact has decreased and they aren’t as tactile with one another.

“While they do love each other and they will do anything to support one another, we tend not to see them being as openly passionate. Despite this, the pair clearly have huge levels of respect for each other, and are there for each other through everything.”
