This year started out so well for the Sussexes. At the start of 2023 Prince Harry and his wife Meghan were on the precipice of a number of seemingly exciting projects.

Following on from their Netflix documentary they looked forward to the world’s reaction to the release of Harry’s memoir Spare and the continuation of Meghan’s now ditched podcast Archetypes.

But as the big ticket items in the Sussexes’s PR plan to conquer America backfired, it’s left some wondering if the pair can make a comeback in 2024. Now, according to a source, they are planning to turn around their dimming stars with a “total system reboot”.

“They know of their supposed failures and how it’s viewed, but they have almost gone more tech than Hollywood. Fail big and all that,” reports People. “They have swapped in and out all sorts of projects and people and are embarking on a total system reboot.”

Many mocked the pair’s decision to tell all – with Hollywood Reporter dubbing them among its ‘biggest losers’ and a brutal South Park sketch featuring the pair embarking on a Worldwide Privacy Tour.

Most recently they have racked up a further barrage of negative headlines due to their much-loved charity Archewell report revealing depressing figures that saw donations plunge by almost £9m.

The release of Meghan’s so-called mouthpiece Omid Scobie’s controversial Endgame book added to their woes with its series of revelations slamming senior royals that haven’t gone down well with the public.

Harry’s high-profile court battles – including against the Government to have his security detail reinstated – have also been criticised.

Adding to all the PR troubles are their personal relationships with the rest of the Royal Family which continue to struggle behind the scenes.

Before the release of Endgame, it seemed like there could be a reconciliation in the offing.

However as Christmas approaches it appears that a chance for festive forgiveness could have slipped away, with Harry and Meghan’s plans still very much up in the air, according to reports.

But royal expert Hannah Furness, the royal editor of The Telegraph, thinks that a comeback is possible – but says that the “excuses are now gone.” She wrote: “They remain some of the world’s most read-about celebrities.

“The challenge they now face is that the excuses are gone. No longer thwarted by men in grey suits, hemmed in by palace protocol, reliant on the British press he reviles and forced to dim their light by a jealous institution, the Sussexes must stand on their own two feet.”
