The director of ‘With Love, Meghan’ which is due to premiere on Netflix on March 4, has opened up about what it’s like to work with the Duchess of Sussex. Speaking about Meghan’s work ethic, behind the scenes, director Michael Steed spoke to People Magazine. He explained: “Everyone has this one version of her, but she’s just someone who is hustling and working and doing.”
He described how he created the perfect backdrop for the show setting. He said: “I genuinely wanted to create an environment where she could relax, and I know the pressures of what she deals with on a daily basis. I was happy that we created scenes where she could tap into that part of her life.”
The show is set to premiere tomorrow, after the lifestyle and cookery show was delayed from its initial January release date due to the devastation caused by California wildfires.
The launch is also accompanied by Meghan’s new merchandise range ‘As Ever’ – and the brand’s website features a photograph of the Duchess walking hand-in-hand with her daughter.
Meghan also told the US publication that the show is a way of teaching her daughter, Princess Lilibet, three, “what it’s like to be a working mom”. The duchess also revealed she had Lilibet and Prince Archie, five, visit her during filming, saying: “I loved that my children were able to watch me working and see the balance of that and understand what Mama does and is working to create and share.”
Despite having over two million followers on Instagram and having used the social media platform to promote her upcoming Netflix programme, the Duchess of Sussex has insisted she isn’t an influencer.
Meghan told People magazine: “I see myself as an entrepreneur and a female founder and if the brand ends up influential, then that’s great.”
Meghan also claimed that Harry, who only makes a brief appearance in the final episode of ‘With Love, Meghan’, was happy to see her back in her zone. “I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing the thing that I was doing when he first met me,” she told the US news outlet.
Ahead of the show, Meghan explained why she chose to film in a nearby rental property. She said: “I wanted to protect that safe haven.
“We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments — putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day. Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!”
As previously reported by MailOnline, the property rented for filming is just two miles away from her own Montecito home, and sits on an idyllic £5million ($6.1million) estate owned by Tom and Sherrie Cipolla, a couple who run in the high society circles of the American Riviera.
