Meghan Markle won’t film new cooking show at £11m mansion she shares with Prince Harry | Royal | News

Meghan Markle started filming her first solo series for Netflix on Tuesday, but viewers keen to get a peak into Meghan’s enviable homelife are going to be left unsatisfied.

Despite giving viewers a window into their Montecito mansion during their 2022 docu-drama, Harry and Meghan’s home will not be on display during Meghan’s cooking show.

According to Daily Mail Diary Editor Richard Eden’s sources, Netflix has rented a property in which to shoot the new series.

A spokesman for Meghan declined to comment on the reasons behind the move.

However, the former Suits actress isn’t filming outside her own home for want of space. The property she, the Duke of Sussex and their two children live in is valued at around £11 million and boasts, according to some, nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, a gym, bar, a five-car garage and more besides.

Netflix has said the show will “celebrate the joys of cooking and gardening, entertaining and friendship”.

The series is due to tie together with the Duchess’ latest business venture – a lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard.

It is one of two shows the Sussexes are involved in with Netflix, but their deal is up for renewal next year.

The other show will feature professional polo, one of Harry’s favourite sports. The streaming giant says that it will “provide viewers [with] unprecedented access to the world of professional polo”.

It added: “Known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport, capturing players and all it takes to compete at the highest level.”

Meanwhile, despite their new Netflix shows, Americans are far from enamoured with the pair.

The couple sought refuge in California in 2020 after announcing they were stepping back from royal duties.

The prince stressed that the UK will always be “home,” but new records show he now considers himself a full-time US resident.

“I don’t think it will work out as they think it will,” said New York bagel shop manager Don Johnson in an interview with Daily Express US.

“They’re already getting a lot of scandal for being the way they are – they want privacy, but they want to do world tours all around and book signings, but they don’t want anyone to bother them.

“Here in America, it’s different from the UK, they’re not gonna get the privacy they think they’re gonna get.”
