Following the Abdication of Queen Margrethe II and the Proclamation of King Frederik X of Denmark, the new King Frederik X and Queen Mary are going on a Tour of Nordic region, beginning with State Visits to Sweden and Norway in May followed by longer tours of the Faroe Islands and Greenland on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog in June and July.
When the King and Queen travel to Sweden at the beginning of May on Their Majesty’s first official state visit to Sweden, the start of a major tour of the Nordic region will also be heard. The visit to Sweden is followed by a state visit to Norway, after which the King and Queen visit the Faroe Islands and Greenland in June and July.
The first state visits give rise to the new royal couple meeting the regents of Sweden and Norway, thus marking the close relations between the Nordic monarchies. In June, the Royal Yacht Dannebrog heads north on a Commonwealth cruise. The royal couple will visit the Faroe Islands in mid-June and then Greenland in late June and early July.
