King Frederik of Denmark has had a busy week of engagements already with a conference and a university visit on the schedule.
On Tuesday, the Danish King officially opened the Powering European Identity Conference in Sønderborg.
The invitation only conference focuses on several key themes, including industry and societal challenges such as high energy costs and climate change. The conference’s goal is to give European politicians and policy makers a place to meet and discuss green energy solutions.
The King’s speech called on Europe’s leaders to look inwards for inspiration: “We need to engage our brightest minds, our strongest hands, and our most ambitious business and political leaders. We need to learn from some of the best examples, some of which are very close by.“
King Frederik also visited the University of Copenhagen on Wednesday to open a new building on campus.
The Niels Bohr Building is a 52,000 square-metre building that will be home to over 3,000 chemistry, natural sciences, and physics students and staff. The building is named for the Danish physicist who won the Nobel Prize for his work on atomic structure and quantum theory.
While the King is keeping a busy schedule, Queen Mary and Princess Josephine have reportedly touched down in Australia for a private vacation. The two were seen enjoying a casual day at Bronte Beach in Sydney.
