The King and Queen have been cheered through the streets of Edinburgh as the celebrations for the Scottish celebration got under way.

Their Majesties were driven from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to St. Giles’ Cathedral for the Presentation of the Honours of Scotland – the Crown, the Sceptre and the Sword.

The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay accompanied them.

The Royal Procession came after a People’s Procession involving hundreds of representatives of different parts of Scottish society began the day’s proceedings.

The Honours of Scotland, the oldest Crown Jewels in the UK, were driven by Rolls Royce form their home at Edinburgh Castle to St. Giles for the ceremony.

King Charles and Queen Camilla, in the mantles of the Order of the Thistle, arrived at the Cathedral to the fanfare ‘Balmoral Flourishes’.
The Scottish Coronation will be followed by another royal procession and an RAF flypast.
