Happy Birthday to Queen Anis of Kelantan, who celebrates her 75th Birthday! The illustrious Princess who was the Raja Perempuan (Queen) of Kelantan from 1979 to 2010 and is the mother of the current Sultan of Kelantan, Queen Anis has often worn this striking Diamond Tiara!
A striking Diamond Tiara consisting of a diamond base topped with Celtic knots and elaborate diamond scrolls, set in white and yellow gold, the Tiara seems to have been created in the late 1980s, and is a modern recreation of Queen Alexandra’s Wedding Gift Tiara, which was created at Garrard in the 1860s and was dismantled in the 1920s or 1930s.
Queen Anis began wearing the Diamond Tiara in the 1990s, with a notable appearance at the Sultan of Brunei’s Silver Jubilee in 1992 in addition to several official portraits.
Queen Anis later wore her Diamond Tiara for the Wedding of Crown Prince of Brunei in 2004, as well as for numerous Investitures, Birthdays and Banquets.
Following her husband’s Abdication, Queen Anis continued to wear her Diamond Tiara, most recently for an investiture ceremony at the Istana Balai Besar in 2022.
More recently, the Diamond Tiara was worn by Queen Anis’ daughter-in-law, Crown Princess Sofie Louise , for for the Sultan of Kelantan’s Birthday in Kota Bharu in September 2023. There is no doubt it continue to be worn for years to come!
