The Prince of Wales is back on duty after several weeks which have seen his family beset with health concerns.

Prince William has been carrying out an investiture at Windsor Castle as he returned to public engagements for the first time since January when the Princess of Wales had to undergo major surgery.

The heir to the throne presented honours to dozens of people recognised for their contributions to society in the ceremony.

He was wearing RAF uniform for the investiture.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the official social media of the Prince and Princess of Wales said ”Honouring amazing people doing incredible things in our communities up and down the country.”

Prince William stepped back from royal duties in the middle of January after the Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery at the London Clinic. The Princess remained in hospital for almost two weeks and will recuperate at home until at least the end of March. The Prince of Wales has been looking after her and their children and will continue to prioritise them as Catherine continues her recovery.

It was also the first time that the heir to the throne had been seen since Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III is being treated for cancer.

The King has postponed all public facing engagements while he undergoes a schedule of treatment for his illness.

It is expected Prince William will make some comment on his family when he attends a gala dinner for the London Air Ambulance later today.
