The Princess of Wales was praised for “wielding her influence” in a unique and modern way despite not having made many appearances this year, a royal expert has claimed.
Princess Kate has only carried out a handful of public engagements this year following her cancer diagnosis earlier this year and subsequent treatment for it.
The future Queen has now completed her preventative chemotherapy and announced she will be making more appearances in the future – but the subtle way she made sure to stay in touch with the public while out of the spotlight was noted by an expert.
Kate remained active on social media throughout her hiatus from royal duties, supporting the charitable causes that are close to her heart, signing her messages with a “C” for Catherine, and adding a personal touch to the posts.
Earlier this month, to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week, she took to Kensington Palace’s X account, saying: “Baby Loss Awareness Week is such an important moment to support those who have experienced the devastation of baby loss. Sending love, strength and hope to anyone affected. C”
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond praised Kate’s modern communication approach.
She told OK! magazine: “This is such an effective and modern way of using her influence and staying in touch, even when she is not making personal appearances.
“Official statements from the Palace now seem quite stuffy and extremely formal by comparison.
“Social media can be a source of awful abuse, but Catherine and William are showing that it can be used to spread goodwill and kindness.”
