The Royal Family turned out in force for the now traditional Christmas carol service organised by the Princess of Wales. They gathered at Westminster Abbey for the special event which took the theme of the hope of new life. And in a year when children and those who care for them were honoured, it was the younger generation who came to the fore at this special royal event.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were joined by their three children for the service.

Prince Louis attended for the first time and appeared to enjoy all the special Christmas touches that had been added to the Abbey for the evening.

Along with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Louis posted a message to a vulnerable young person in a special box set up outside the Abbey to spread Christmas joy to as many as possible.

The royal cousins were there in full force. Princess Beatrice was accompanied by her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and held hands with her stepson, Christopher, as the family enjoyed the festive evening.

Peter Phillips arrived with his two daughters, Savannah and Isla, as well as his sister, Zara Tindall.

Maud Windsor, daughter of Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor and a former schoolmate of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, was there with her parents and younger sister, Isabella.
