A royal expert has claimed that Prince Harry is making a “wise” decision to return to the UK without his wife Meghan Markle as it could mark the first steps towards a reconciliation in the Royal Family.

Prince Harry is flying back to London after learning of King Charles’s cancer diagnosis while Meghan Markle stays in California. On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced the monarch has been diagnosed with cancer, sending shockwaves across the world.

The announcement came 10 days after he was diagnosed with a benign enlarged prostate. He was given the cancer news having undergone subsequent tests while he was receiving prostate treatment at The London Clinic. It is not connected with his recent surgery and it is not prostate cancer.

Richard Fitzwilliams told FEMAIL that learning about their father’s condition could help to build bridges between Harry and Prince William, but it is preferable he comes alone following the “serious rift” between the brothers.

In his memoir Spare Harry alleged that William was never particularly welcome to Meghan and that his relationship even led to the two having a physical fight.

Announcing that Prince Harry will come to see his father, the Office of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: “The Duke did speak with his father about his diagnosis. He will be travelling to the UK to see His Majesty in the coming days.”
