Queen Camilla chose a very specific look for her first Trooping the Colour as Queen in 2023, donning a military inspired gown rather than a standard day dress.
The Queen wore a striking scarlet silk coat dress from designer Fiona Clare Aldridge. The floor-length silk coat dress was specifically designed to pull on elements from the uniform of the Grenadier Guards. It includes “The Grenade Fired Proper” embroidered on the collar in gold bullion, gold bullion back slashes, and gold buttons.
Queen Camilla paired the coat dress with a Philip Treacy black beret headpiece that featured a feather detail, much like the bearskin hat worn by the Grenadier Guards.
Very appropriately, she also chose to wear the Grenadier Guards brooch to complete her look. The badge belonged to the late Queen who wore it often.
Queen Camilla had taken over as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards from the Duke of York, with the appointment announced in December 2022.
