Harry and Meghan’s much-derided Netflix series is up for prestigious TV gong

HARRY and Meghan’s much- derided Netflix series in which they “trashed” the Royal Family is up for a TV gong.

But the pair suffered a snub yesterday as they missed out on a nomination at the more prestigious Emmy Awards.

Their six-part series, Harry & Meghan, was filmed as part of their £81million deal with the streaming giants.

It was blasted for a series of embarrassing inaccuracies — including using clips of media at a Harry Potter premiere to portray press intrusion.

Last December’s docuseries stunned the Royal Family as Harry claimed William “screamed and shouted” at him during Megxit talks and Meghan blasted Kate for not being a “hugger”.

Meghan outraged Brits when she was filmed mocking the late Queen Elizabeth with an over-elaborate curtsey during a sit-down interview with Harry in which they aired petty family grievances.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also widely-lambasted as filming was still taking place in August — only weeks before Queen Elizabeth’s death.

And much of the home-video shot by the couple came in the final months of Harry’s grandad Prince Philip.

Industry insiders say the HCA nomination gives the couple “credibility” after they their multi-million pound deal with Spotify amid claims that Harry wanted to interview Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump about their childhood.

TalkTV host and Sun columnist Piers Morgan was not impressed.

He tweeted: “Many congratulations to Meghan & Harry on being nominated for an award for trashing their families on TV.

“Truly heart-warming!”

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, said: “I think it’s very sad that you can be nominated for an award for dissing your own family.

“The Royal Family has had it up to their eyeballs with Meghan and Harry and I don’t think it will matter much to them.

“But it is surprising that judges would choose them considering it was filmed when the Queen was ill and had so many inaccuracies.

“This award is a big deal in Hollywood but in Britain all we care about is the Oscars or Emmys, and they missed out on an Emmy.”

Top talent agent Prof Jonathan Shalit said the couple would not be nominated had the Hollywood Critics Association not been impressed.

It is not known whether Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, will attend the awards ceremony later this year.
