French State Visit to Sweden

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden are hosting French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron, on their State Visit to Sweden on January 30-31, to further strengthen and promote the long-standing, broad and excellent relations between Sweden and France, while stimulating in-depth collaborations in areas such as innovation and green transition as well as defense and security.

President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron were received by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in an official Welcome Ceremony at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, before a Press Conference in Lovisa Ulrika’s Dining Room and lunch with members of the Royal Family.

After lunch, the Queen and Brigitte Macron visited the Rinkeby School and the the Museum of Modern Art to attend a seminar on how the exchange in the fields of visual and performing arts can be strengthened, with a particular focus on regional development and how we reach a young audience. At Karlberg Castle, the King and President Emmanuel Macron participated in a round table discussion on the future of European security with security policy experts from Sweden and France.   

In the evening, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a State Banquet in honour of President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. They processed down the media corridor and received guests before the Banquet. Both the King and President gave speeches.

King Carl Gustaf was in the Legion of Honour, along with Queen Silvia, who wore the Napoleonic Cameo Parure and the Legion of Honour.

Crown Princess Victoria wore the Napoleonic Cut Steel Tiara and Diamond Floral Earrings with the Legion of Honour and the National Order of Merit, with Prince Daniel wearing a lesser tier of the  Legion of Honour.

Prince Carl Philip was a lesser tier of the Legion of Honour, as was Princess Sofia, who wore her Wedding Tiara and the Order of the Seraphim.

Princess Christina wore the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara.
