Over a year after announcing their engagement, Princess Märtha Louise of Norway and Shaman Durek Verrett have announced that they will marry at Hotel Union in Geiranger, Norway on August 31st, 2024, following a five-year relationship. Princess Märtha Louise was previously married to the late Ari Behn and they have three daughters.

Princess Märtha Louise said:

Geiranger is known for its spectacular fjord and its dramatic mountains. The Geirangerfjord is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and represents Norway’s rich culture and natural beauty.

We’re so happy to be celebrating our love in the beautiful surroundings of Geiranger. It means a lot to us to gather our loved ones in a place that is so rich in history and intense nature experiences. Geiranger is the perfect place to embrace our love.

King Harald V and Queen Sonja said:

The Queen and I are delighted that Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verret have today announced their wedding plans. We are delighted to welcome Durek Verret into the family and we look forward to celebrating the big day with them. We wish Märtha and Durek all the best.

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit said:

We congratulate Princess Märtha and Durek Verret on their wedding in August next year. We are happy for them and look forward to celebrating with them in Geiranger. We wish Märtha, Durek and the girls all the best for the future.

When Princess Märtha Louise of Norway married the late Ari Behn in Trondheim in 2002, Royal Guests and Relatives from around Europe joined the Norwegian Royal Family to celebrate the nuptials, which were celebrated in true Scandinavian Royal Style in White Tie and Tiaras. Despite the controversy surrounding the marriage, it is quite likely that this Wedding will be White Tie and Tiaras again, similar to the second Wedding of Prince Joachim of Denmark in 2008.

Princess Märtha Louise is close to several foreign royals like Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands, Princess Sumaya of Jordan, and Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg who we can expect to see at the wedding in a private capacity.
