Crown Princess Victoria channels historic queen in a very unexpected way

Crown Princess Victoria has made an unexpected nod to one of the most famous queens of all in her latest appearance.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria have held a meeting with Sweden’s Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The Swedish monarch and prime minister meet regularly to discuss government plans and issues. And, occasionally, the heir joins these meetings.

Crown Princess Victoria went with a grey, monochrome look for the meeting. She re-wore a grey knit polo top from Norwegian brand Andiata; she also chose to re-wear her Boudicca tailored trousers from A Day’s March, to complete her ensemble. And that’s where the nod comes in.

Boudicca is, of course, one of the most iconic heroines in British history and has been invoked by several groups, including the suffragettes. She was the last queen of the Iceni tribe in Eastern Britain. In roughly 60 AD, she led a failed uprising against the invading Roman troops and has been immortalised in art, poetry, and literature.

As Victoria will be Sweden’s first queen regnant in three centuries, it seems fitting to channel such a famous queen.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is one of the most involved heirs in Europe. She regularly stands in for her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, and attends meetings and events with him.
