While the spotlight continues to fall on the Princess of Asturias in Spain, as she carries out her naval training, her parents have just hosted a vital meeting for the country. And Queen Letizia chose one of the most important jewels in the royal collection for the event.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia welcomed Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to the Royal Palace in Madrid. The King of Spain and the President of Egypt had a private meeting at the Palace.

Afterwards, a lunch was held in honour of the Egyptian President. During his speech at the lunch, King Felipe emphasised Egypt’s important diplomatic role, saying ”Egypt is not just a friendly country. It is an essential pillar of the Euro-Mediterranean Process, a determining actor on the African continent and a strategic partner in the Middle East.”

Queen Letizia wore an elegant, navy skirt suit. However, she chose one historic piece of jewellery that stole the show. Queen Letizia wore a brooch from the joyas de pasar, a collection of spectacular jewels only worn by the Spanish queen (originally gathered by Queen Ena). 

The Grey Pearl Brooch features a large, round grey pearl surrounded by diamonds with a large pearl drop. Queen Letizia chose to wear the brooch without the pearl drop for a simpler look.
