QUEEN CAMILLA has pinched an ‘exciting’ horse from King Charles and sent him to a new trainer.

Reach For The Moon, who used to be trained by John Gosden and was a big fancy for the 2022 Epsom Derby, is now with Jamie Snowden.

He told the Racing Post the hugely talented four-year-old will run only in Camilla’s brown and red silks from now on.

The horse had previously always competed in the Royal purple, red and yellow colours.

Reach For The Moon was bred by the late Queen and left to Charles as part of the huge Royal racing empire he inherited after her death.

Charles and Camilla have had great success on the track this year, with Desert Hero’s Royal Ascot win a notable scalp.

That horse, who also won at Glorious Goodwood, has since been clipped into as short as 5-1 horse for the St Leger, the Flat season’s final Classic worth just under £400,000 to the winner.

But it’s Reach For The Moon who could really seal a place in the nation’s hearts if he is aimed at some of the top jumps races.

A Group 3 winner on the Flat with more than £100,000 winnings, Reach For The Moon is now being prepped for a career over hurdles.

Snowden said: “We’ve got a few more for Her Majesty The Queen, including Reach For The Moon, who will run in her brown and red silks.

“He’s been down at Henrietta Knight’s doing some jumping and seems to have taken to it well, while he was talented on the Flat, reaching a rating of 114.

“We’ll take our time with him, but he could be exciting.”

Another intriguing element to the change of ownership is that Sir Chips Keswick, former Arsenal chairman, is listed as co-owner.

Sir Chips and Snowden landed the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at last year’s Cheltenham Festival with You Wear It Well and knows a good horse when he sees one.
