Britain’s Got Talent star Ashley Banjo says King Charles’ Coronation will bring nation together as fans flock to party


DIVERSITY star Ashley Banjo has said King Charles’ Coronation will bring the nation together with epic celebrations as he recalled performing for the late Queen Elizabeth.

The Britain’s Got Talent winners – lead by Ashley Banjo – stole the show when they performed outside Buckingham Palace last year to pay a homage to British pop music at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Party-goers have flocked to begin celebrations – bagging the best seats in the house with incredible views of Buckingham Palace – at The Ruben’s at the Palace Hotel ahead of the coronation on May 6.

With bespoke King’s Coronation Day Afternoon teas as well as Indian and Lanson champagne feasts, Ashley couldn’t be more excited for the big day himself.

In an exclusive chat with The Sun for his stylish Peacocks’ range, he said: “It was an honour to perform at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. it was definitely a ‘pinch me’ moment. The atmosphere was incredible.

“I’m sure King Charles’ Coronation will bring people together too, a huge celebration that will lift people’s spirits. It will be incredible.”

Ashley is no stranger to rubbing shoulders with royalty over the years.

He previously told The Sun about meeting the royals : “I’ve been lucky enough to meet quite a few members of the royal family including the late Prince Phillip and Her Majesty the Queen.

Every time we’ve spoken they’ve all been very polite and lovely to me.”

Diversity were hailed heroes of the Platinum Jubilee last year after their incredible performance.

The troupe covered the decades since the Queen came to the throne, including The Beatles, the Spice Girls and Stormzy.

As the music changed from one act to the next, Ashley narrated the history of dance before busting a few moves of his own with his co-stars.

Viewers were incredibly impressed by their performance, with one writing on Twitter: “#Diversity just get it right every time. Perfection.”

Another added: “What I’d give just to spend 10 minutes inside the brain of @AshleyBanjo – the creativity is just next level.”

A third tweeted: “Wow, #Diversity was excellent! What a performance.”

Meanwhile a fourth shared: “They are a world class act.”
