King Charles III and Queen Camilla will take part in a special procession through Edinburgh ahead of their Scottish Coronation.

His Majesty will be presented with the Honours of Scotland on July 5th at St. Giles’ Cathedral in the city. The Honours will be collected from Edinburgh Castle and paraded through the city’s streets in a ‘People’s Procession’ that will also involve around 100 people representing different aspects of Scottish life.

The Honours will be escorted by the Royal Regiment of Scotland while music will come from the Combined Cadet Forces Pipes and Drums, 51 Brigade Cadet Military Band.

The mascot of the Royal Regiment, the Shetland pony Corporal Cruachan IV, will also take part.

The Royal Procession will meanwhile make its way from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to the Cathedral. King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be joined by the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, as the heir to the throne and his wife are known while in Scotland.

The celebrations will continue after the presentation of the Honours. A 21 gun salute will be fired from Edinburgh Castle as the service at St. Giles’ Cathedral comes to a close. The Royal Procession, involving The King, The Queen and the Duke and Duchess, will then return to Holyroodhouse.

Charles III became King of Scots on September 8th 2022 on the death of his mother, the first Queen Elizabeth of Scotland.
