Jordan will soon have a Crown Princess as Crown Prince Hussein is set to marry a woman from Saudi Arabia. So who is the woman who has captured the Jordanian heir to the throne’s heart?
Born on 28 April 1994 in Riyadh, Rajwa Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif is the youngest child of Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif, a Saudi businessman and Azza bint Nayef Abdulaziz Ahmad Al Sudairi. She has three older siblings: Faisal, Nayef and Dana.
Mr Al-Saif is a successful Saudi businessman who graduated from the American University of Beirut with a civil engineering degree. He also founded one of the leading construction companies in Saudi Arabia – El Seif Engineering Contracting – in addition to several other companies in other sectors.
Her family can be traced back to the Subai tribe, who have been sheikhs of a town called Al-Attar since the reign of King Abdulaziz Al Saud. Through her mother, she is a first cousin, twice removed, of King Salman of Saudi Arabia.
Her secondary education took place in Saudi Arabia, and she later studied at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University in New York. Additionally, Rajwa holds a designation degree in Visual Communications from the Los Angeles-based Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
Rajwa currently works in Riyadh at the Designlab Experience design studio. She previously worked at an architecture firm in Los Angeles.
She has also had a passion for horse riding since she was a child.
It is not yet known how she met Crown Prince Hussein or how long they have dated.
Like the Duchess of Cambridge in the UK, this future queen consort is also older than her husband-to-be; Rajwa is exactly two months older than the Jordanian heir to the throne.
Rajwa’s engagement to Crown Prince Hussein took place on 17 August at the home of her father. Images posted to Queen Rania’s social media show the Queen and King Abdullah embracing their future daughter-in-law.
After hearing the news that a woman from his country (and distant relative) was engaged to the Jordanian heir, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia called King Abdullah and Crown Prince Hussein to extend his congratulations and wish the couple a happy life together.
Rajwa will not be the only new member of the Jordanian Royal Family. Her sister-in-law-to-be, Princess Iman, married Venezuelan-born Jameel Alexander Thermiotis earlier this year.
Rajwa will become Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Jordan, upon her marriage to Crown Prince Hussein on 1 June at Zahran Palace.
