The celebrations for the Presentation of the Honours of Scotland came to an end with a spectacular RAF flypast above the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla, with the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, watched the aerial show from the forecourt of the Palace after the historic ceremony which saw His Majesty presented with the Crown Jewels of Scotland, the oldest in the UK.
Over 700 members of the Armed Forces had led the ceremonial for the presentation with the RAF completing the celebrations over the city. A gun salute also sounded as the ceremony ended.
The flypast soared over Edinburgh Castle where, early in the afternoon of July 5th 2023, celebrations had begun with the People’s Procession which involved over 100 people from across Scotland.
Soon afterwards, the Castle gave up some of its greatest treasures as the Honours were taken to St. Giles Cathedral for the National Service of Dedication and Thanksgiving. The crown, the sceptre and a new sword, the Elizabeth, were conveyed by Rolls Royce before being show on the steps of the church while the first bars of the National Anthem played.
A Royal Procession then conveyed The King, The Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay to the Cathedral where the ceremony took placce.
The flypast brought to an end the Coronation celebrations in Scotland for King Charles III.
