Emotional moment for Princess Charlene on very special day for her family

Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella of Monaco have reached a major milestone this week as they made their First Communion.

The prince and princess, who are ten, made their communion at Monaco Cathedral with their parents, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, watching.

The Monegasque royal family shared photos of Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Isabella after the service. The twins, who share a close bond, were seen together and with their parents in the photos.

Princess Charlene and Prince Albert made an emotional statement in which they congratulated their daughter and son and spoke of their happiness at how Jacques and Gabriella had ”received this sacrament with faith and reverence”.

Gabriella and Jacques were born on10 December 2014 at  The Princess Grace Hospital Centre. Princess Gabriella was born two minutes before her brother. However, as Monaco still follows male preference primogeniture, her younger brother is the heir apparent to the Monegasque throne while she is second in line.

The twins first started school at François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré School in 2021, a private school that has over 1,100 students.

Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques often accompany their parents on official outings. Monaco celebrates its national day in November each year, and the twins usually appear with their parents. The young princess often coordinates with her fashionable mum for their appearances.

As they are a Catholic family, many of their outings are related to religious holidays. In January 2025, the 10-year-olds joined their parents for St. Devote festivities celebrating Monaco’s patron saint.
