The Princess of Wales is a beloved member of the Royal Family and a tradition that she started in 2021 to bring communities together is now a festive season staple that even more people will be able to attend.

Together at Christmas is an annual carol service held at Westminster Abbey. Each year, different individuals and group representatives are invited to the service to thank them for their contributions to their communities. Musicians and performers from across the United Kingdom are invited to perform at the service.

In 2021, the first holiday carol service took place at Westminster Abbey to thank the individuals and groups who helped support their communities throughout the global health crisis.

And since then, a new element has been added. Community carol services are held around the UK. This year, that tradition will continue with ceremonies being held in fifteen places including Omagh, Aberdeen, Stirling, Brecon, Luton, St. Alban’s, Rochester, Spalding, Thetford, Hexham, Taunton, Dewsbury and Uttoxeter.

Kensington Palace shared in 2021 that, ”Unsung heroes from across the length and breadth of the nation have been invited to attend the service in recognition of their tireless efforts and selfless acts of kindness despite incredibly difficult circumstances.”

In December 2022, Catherine hosted her first service as Princess of Wales. The service was held in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II and celebrated her commitment to her faith, service, empathy, and support for others.

The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales shared earlier in November that the 2024 service would be held on Friday 6 December. The Westminster Abbey Choir will be joined by Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith and Olivia Dean this year.

While 1,600 people have been invited to Westminster Abbey, many more will now be able to attend the event.

Fifteen additional Together at Christmas services will be held across the UK in the early days of December. Lord-Lieutenants will be hosting the services with the support of the Royal Foundation, including one at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro and one at Blackpool Tower Circus.

Although the Princess of Wales is still recovering from her cancer treatments, she will be at Westminster Abbey, along with her husband and children, for the beloved service.
