The Prince and Princess of Wales spent several days at Balmoral with The King and Queen, a surprise return to Scotland for William and Catherine who were at the estate in August with their children. And now an unexpected glimpse into the visit has been revealed.
The presence of William and Catherine, who are known by their Scottish title of Duke and Duchess of Rothesay while in the country, came to light when they were seen leaving Crathie Kirk after attending morning service with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Now, one of the singers who took part in that service has shared some of the special music that was sung during the service.
Taking to X, Rebecca White said it was an ”honour to sing at Crathie Kirk, Balmoral, for their Majesties, King Charles III, Queen Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, William and Catherine, during a Sunday service.”
And she shared that the royals had heard a special setting of Psalm 46, composed by Joanna Gill who also created some of the music played at the Presentation of the Honours of Scotland to King Charles III in July 2023, his ”Scottish Coronation”.
William and Catherine are understood to have spent several days at Balmoral with The King and Queen but without their children. Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9 and six year old Prince Louis are at the start of a new term at Lambrook School and stayed in Berkshire.
The Wales family had already spent time at Balmoral this summer, joining Their Majesties at the Aberdeenshire retreat in August. It’s one reason why William and Catherine’s fresh appearance there this weekend came as a surprise.
It was also the first public appearance of the Princess of Wales since she announced she had finished chemotherapy. Catherine announced she was undergoing treatment in March this year and following on from major abdominal surgery in January.
