A star-studded concert after major Royal events has become a tradition in Royal celebrations.

King Charles’ Coronation is no different with a concert scheduled for May 7, 2023, but who is hosting? Read on to find out.

Who is hosting the King’s Coronation Concert?

King Charles’ Coronation Concert will be hosted by actor Hugh Bonneville.

The 59-year-old is best known for starring in Downton Abbey and the Paddington films.

Speaking about leading the star-studded event, he said: “I’m delighted to be taking part in this unique event, celebrating the best of musical entertainment in honour of His Majesty’s Coronation.

“In true British style, come rain or shine it will be a night to remember.”

Who is performing at the coronation concert?

The Coronation concert lineup has been the topic of speculation and rumours.

As some of the biggest British stars had declined to perform for various reasons, it was a mystery as to who would be performing.

Royal fans need not fear as a spectacular lineup of talented artists and performers was announced.

Lionel Richie, who was the first global ambassador of the Prince’s Trust, has been confirmed as a performer.

Speaking to People Magazine, Richie said: “[It’s] A, a surprise. B, what an honour. And C, the fact of all the names that are out there that he could have had for this, he called my name.”

Take That will perform with three of its original members: Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen.

The boy band’s other member Robbie Williams reportedly turned down the offer.

Katy Perry will be playing and Italian opera star Andrea Bocelli will perform a duo with Welsh singer Sir Bryn Terfel.

Singer-songwriter Freya Ridings and classical composer Alexis Ffrench will also take to the stage as a duo.

There will also be a spoken word performance given by Stella McCartney on the highly important topic of conservation, a passion both she and King Charles share.

Where is the Coronation Concert taking place?

The concert is taking place on the grounds of Windsor Castle in Berkshire.

It will be staged on the East Lawn of Windsor Castle, the first time a concert has been held on the grounds.

The gig will start at 8 pm on May 7, 2023.

Can I watch the Coronation Concert on TV?

The concert will be broadcast live from the grounds of Windsor Castle on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.

If you happen to be in London, head down to St James’s Park to watch it on a big screen. 

You can head down to St James’s Park from 4 pm, but the screens will not start broadcasting until the concert starts.
