Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett were married by Parish Priest Margit Lovise Holte at the Vinjevollen Farm in Geiranger, which was followed by a Tea and Garden Party in the Hotel Union in Geiranger.
Princess Märtha Louise wore King Olav’s Gift Tiara.

On the morning of August 30th, Guests joined Princess Märtha Louise (wearing Queen Sonja’s Aquamarine and Amethyst Earrings) and Durek Verrett for a three-hour cruise on the Geirangerfjord from Ålesund to the village of Geiranger, where the couple and her daughters drove through the streets in a vintage car.

In the evening, the Royal Guests joined Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett for a Cocktail Party, Dinner and Dance at the Hotel Union in Geiranger.

The festivities kicked off with a ‘Meet and Greet’ Party at the Hotel 1904 in Ålesund on the evening of August 29th.
This weekend, Princess Märtha Louise of Norway will marry Shaman Durek Verrett at Hotel Union in Geiranger in Norway, in three days of celebrations. Princess Märtha Louise was previously married to the late Ari Behn and they had three daughters.
The guests are invited to a three-day wedding celebration starting in Ålesund as early as Thursday 29 August. The bride and groom offer a shuttle service from Ålesund Airport, Vigra, to the hotels booked in connection with the wedding.
On the first day of the celebration, Princess Märtha invites Durek to what they have called a “Meet and Greet Party”. The arena for this is the backyard of Hotel 1904, which is located in the middle of Ålesund’s city heart.
The dress code is specially marked during each wedding party event, and in the invitation to the get-to-know-you party, the bride and groom encourage guests to dress in a “sexy and cool” outfit.
When the many wedding guests wake up in the western village on Friday morning, you just have to cross your fingers that the sun also contributes. Then they can look forward to a three-hour boat trip into the beautiful and UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord. The goal is of course the place for the big event.
On arrival in Geiranger, guests will receive a more detailed program for the rest of the weekend. Märtha and Durek make no secret of the fact that they want to give everyone an “unforgettable adventure” where every detail is planned.
But it is already clear that the guests will meet on Friday – the night before the big night – for a cocktail prelude and subsequent dinner at the Hotel Union. And then the outfit is ready: Dance dress or – suit.
On Saturday it is time for the most romantic and solemn session: the wedding ceremony. The guests will have access to the detailed program for the extraordinary day at a slightly later date, but the guests have been given good indications of what they can – and cannot – wear on Märtha and Durek’s biggest day.
For the solemn ceremony early in the day, the women are encouraged to dress in long ball gowns. They are strongly requested not to wear white, all black, all pink and all types of gold dresses.
Male guests from the United States are encouraged to be inspired by outfits familiar from the Oscars – the big film event in Los Angeles that Durek has attended several times. The Europeans are encouraged to wear gala attire.
The evening ends with a banquet and afterparty at Hotel Union.

When Princess Märtha Louise of Norway married the late Ari Behn in Trondheim in 2002, Royal Guests and Relatives from around Europe joined the Norwegian Royal Family to celebrate the nuptials, which were celebrated in true Scandinavian Royal Style in White Tie and Tiaras. Despite the controversy surrounding the marriage, it is quite likely that this Wedding will be White Tie and Tiaras again, similar to the second Wedding of Prince Joachim of Denmark in 2008.
