The Queens of The Netherlands and Denmark joined Royal Relatives from around Germany to celebrate the Wedding of Duke Adolf Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and his widowed sister-in-law, Princess Elisabeth of Stolberg-Rossla on this day in 1924, 100 years ago.

Duke Adolf Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, son of Grand Duke Frederick Francis II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Princess Marie of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, married his widowed sister-in-law, Princess Elisabeth of Stolberg-Rossla, the widow of his much older half-brother Duke John Albert of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The Duke had one daughter from his previous marriage, Duchess Woizlawa Feodora, and the couple remained married until they passed away within weeks of each other in 1969.

Royal Guests and Relatives were led by Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands (sister-in-law of the groom) along with Prince Henry (brother of the groom) and Princess Juliana (niece of the groom), Queen Alexandrine of Denmark (niece of the groom), Crown Princess Cecilie of Germany (niece of the groom), and the Grand Duke (nephew of the groom) and Grand Duchess Alexandra of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
