Wedding Ball of Princess Margaret

Wedding Ball of Princess Margaret

The British Aristocracy and High Society joined the Royal Family for the magnificent Ball hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace on this day in 1960, 65 years ago, two days before the Wedding of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones.

Continuing the Royal Family’s tradition, the Queen (who wore Queen Alexandra’s Kokoshnik Tiara two days earlier) and Duke of Edinburgh held a magnificent Ball at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Wedding of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones.

Women in sparkling tiaras and jewel-coloured ball gowns strolled by on the arms of debonair men sporting white bow ties and black tailcoats

On 4 May 1960, a ball was held at Buckingham Palace by The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Her Majesty’s younger sister, and those in attendance included the Royal Family, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Prime Minister Harold Macmillan and friends of the couple
