Was there a Swiftie nod from Princess Charlotte at Wimbledon?

Many were happy to see the Princess of Wales arrive at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to watch the men’s singles finals match at Wimbledon.

Her attendance marked her only second official public appearance this year after undergoing major abdominal surgery and treatment for cancer.

As the Princess entered the royal box, she was met with a standing ovation and tremendous applause. Alongside her was her nine-year-old, Princess Charlotte, and Kate’s younger sister, Pippa. As the three went to take their seats, the young Princess could be seen grinning up at her mother as she waved and smiled to spectators. And eagle eyed fashion watchers had questions, of a Taylor Swift kind.

While the Princess of Wales presented the trophy to the winner, Carlos Alcaraz, and the runner-up’s prize to his defeated opponent, Novak Djokovic, Charlotte was applauding and one of her style picks was getting plenty of attention. For it appeared that the young princess was wearing a friendship bracelet of the style beloved by Swift fans around the world.

There were other glimpses. Charlotte would later be seen shaking hands with Alcaraz as her mother smiled proudly on. A star-struck Charlotte looked slightly shy as her mum told Alcaraz they had been watching his matches on TV.

The royal pair also had a chance to meet female tennis stars including 21-year-old Emma Radacanu. While she had her Wimbledon dream crushed on Centre Court by New Zealand qualifier Lulu Sun, she was all smiles as she handed the future queen a bouquet.

Princess Charlotte also met Lucy Shuker prior to the match. Charlotte gave the wheelchair tennis player a ‘pinky promise’ that she would try the sport alongside her mother.

But what is an engagement without some fashion? Many couldn’t help but notice Charlotte’s pink sunglasses and £70 Polka Dot dress from Guess but it was the bracelet that really caught attention. Just last month, Charlotte was at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in London. The bracelets have become a staple among fans who make and trade them at Swift’s concerts.

As she grows up, there’s no doubt that Charlotte, like many other young royal women, will face plenty of focus on her fashion picks. This young princess is already showing she has her own style and she’ll stick to it. A confident royal indeed.
