Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly found out about Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis on television at the same time as the public.

The Princess of Wales shared a moving video address on Friday evening to give an update on her health.

One royal expert has claimed that the Royal Family chose not to inform the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about Kate’s health ahead of time due to a lack of trust in the couple.

Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun: “Well of course there is a reason for that, it’s obvious. There’s a deep rift between the brothers, that we know. We also know that they haven’t, apparently, spoken in many months.

“The reason of course is that for some four years, they’ve caused endless problems for the Royal Family and so they can’t be trusted. Prince William hasn’t trusted Harry and Meghan with good reason.”

Royal commentator Richard Eden said that Harry and Meghan “had no right” to learn of Kate’s diagnosis beforehand.

Mr Eden, the Daily Mail’s diary editor, shared a story from The Times on social media and wrote: “Prince Harry and Meghan had no right to expect to be told before the rest of the world.”

Following Kate’s announcement Harry and Meghan sent a short message of support to the royal. It read: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

Speaking after this, a PR expert told The Mirror that the couple’s quick response to the news was a good sign. Ryan McCormick said: “The speed for which it came out is positive.”
