Princess Eugenie is very close to her parents, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, and she is among the most frequent guests at their Royal Lodge home.

While Andrew, 64, and Sarah 65, are divorced, they have remained living together at the royal residence on the grounds of Windsor Castle for years, making it easy for them both to see their two daughters and their grandchildren together.

However, while these family reunions and gatherings are likely to be a happy occasion, they don’t come completely rule-free.

Appearing on the podcast Table Manners with hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware, Princess Eugenie revealed there are two common food items she is not allowed to eat when at Royal Lodge – onion and garlic.

She said: “I’m not allowed onion and garlic in my parents house because they worry about the breath.”

The host then joked that life must be “tough for the royals”.

Eugenie then later said in the same discussion: “I’ll eat the garlic and then I’ll pop a mint in and hope and pray that no one smells me.”

The princess, 34, is likely to be one of the royals most often visiting Andrew and Sarah in Windsor, along with her two young sons August and Ernest.

Her sister Princess Eugenue, 36, is another frequent visitor to Royal Lodge with her three-year-old daughter Sienna.

Despite the fact Andrew and Sarah divorced in 1996, the family have kept their strong dynamic.

In 2018, Sarah told the Daily Mail: “We’re the happiest divorced couple in the world. We’re divorced to each other, not from each other […] My duty is to him. I am so proud of him. I stand by him and always will. The way we are is our fairytale.”

Sarah will be staying with the duke this Christmas at their Royal Lodge home after the pair pulled out of Christmas at Sandringham following the latest scandal involving the duke.

It was reported last week that the duke was friends with Chinese businessman Yang Tengbo – formally known in court as H6 – who is now believed to have been a suspected spy. The prince has reportedly ceased all contact with him.
